In this three-part presentation, attorney Alan Dumoff will offer an in-depth look at investigations and charges by the Maryland Board Physicians involving integrative medicine and highlight areas of risk and uncertainty that led to the organization of the Maryland Society of Integrative Medicine and work for passage of the Patient’s Access to Integrative Health Care Act. The impact of this law on practice will be discussed and detailed suggestions offered on how physicians can improve the legal safety of their practices. The range of topics will include hotspot areas such as Lyme disease, IV practice, use of compounded drugs and COVID-19 and discussion include scope of practice, standards of care, delegation of duties, use of informed consent, unusual medical devices and as much Q&A as we can fit in this two hour session. Caryn Jaffe, RN will also provide important information about dealing with insurance company clinical policies.
